Colombo is the largest city on the island of Sri Lanka. It is noisy, frenetic, but is relatively easy city to find your way around. It is located on the west coast of the island and adjacent to Sri Jayawardenapura Kotte, the capital.
The country's business centre is on the north. There are department stores, book shops, airline offices, the Central Bank and The World Trade Centre twin towers.

Colombo's climate is fairly temperate all throughout the year, with no distinct seasons apart from two rainy seasons, which occur between May to August and October to January.
